2013 Spring Newsletter
Welcome to the 2013 Golf Season! I hope you have all wintered well and are ready for a wonderful year! I look forward to seeing all the familiar faces along with many new ones who are joining us for the first time. Many exciting things are happening at your club this summer and I can’t wait for the weather to turn warmer.
The biggest change is coming to our kitchen. All the changes were made to address some of our shortcomings in the past. Thanks to a cold prep table we will be much faster in providing your food, whether it is something to grab and go between 9’s, or a meal to sit down and enjoy after the round. A breakfast, lunch and between 9’s menu were created and will be followed to ensure consistency of our meals. We have been experimenting with French fries now for too long and have decided to cut our own. The first batch of fresh cut fries has already been served with rave reviews. We will continue to offer breakfast on a daily basis and have added a few items like bagels, English muffins and pancakes. Finally I would like to introduce Barbara Drummond as the person who is making this all happen. Barbara is coming to us from the Mississippi golf club and I’m sure that she will impress, not only with her cooking skills, but with her efficiency in delivery of the food.
I’m happy to announce that Faye Patrois and Sean Rousselle are back in the Pro Shop. They have many new items to show you in the shop. Titleist and Footjoy are among some of the new brands that we are carrying this year. As in the past, we are offering all members a chance to save 10% on all shop and bar purchases by using our gift cards. If you haven’t used one yet, be sure to ask Faye or Sean for details.
Scott Drummond is the man responsible for our great greens. He is starting his 10th season here at Mountain Creek. With his advice, I have purchased a new top dresser this spring that will be used on a weekly basis. This piece of equipment will help keep our greens healthy and smooth. ( FAST TOO). Scott might also make a few appearances in the Pro Shop throughout the summer.
Our Playing Schedule will be out soon. The first Ladies night will be May 7th, while the first Men’s night will be May 2nd. May 26th will be our Members Appreciation Scramble. This is a great time to see your old golfing pals and meet new ones who have just joined our club. As usual the sign up for upcoming events will be on the window just inside the clubhouse. If you haven’t played the Swiss open or a nine and dine lately be sure not to miss these events as they are a lot of fun!
Since the season is getting underway later this year than the previous 2 seasons the greenskeeping report will also be a little later. Keep an eye out for it on our website. It will be below this newsletter. Try to check in on our website periodically. You will find various coupons for members only.
Lastly, I’ve added another benefit to being a member of Mountain Creek. This season I’ve designated Saturday and Sunday Afternoons starting at 4pm to Junior golfers. Members may bring kids to the club at no charge during these times. Depending on their skill level they could tee off anywhere from the 100 yrd marker, the new yellow tee or even the white tee. I hope to see many of you enjoying some quality time on the golf course with children or grandchildren.
Enjoy the Season!!!
